Just
WHO are These Giants in Genesis 6:4?!
|
        "And it came to pass,
when men began to multiply on the face of the earth,
and daughters were born unto them, That the sons
of God saw the daughters of men that
they were fair; and they took them wives
of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit
shall not always strive with man, for that he also
is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty
years. There were giants in the earth in
those days; and also after that, when the sons
of God came in unto the daughters of men,
and they bare children to them, the same
became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."
–
Genesis 6: 1-4
|
        Who are these
"sons of God" mentioned here in the book of
Genesis?! Also, who are the "daughters of
men" and these giants?! Where did they come from?
What were they like? Where did they go?
        We
assuredly know who the "sons of God" are in
the New Testament! But do we know and understand their
attributes? Though to make sure we are on the same page,
we will do a quick review in the process.
        If
the Bible is the Word of God -- not just a "good"
book -- there must be a connection!
        Remember
the general, "Rule of 1st Mention"?
Most call it the "law of 1st mention",
but it cannot be a law, because it does not always
hold true.
        The
general, "Rule of 1st Mention"
holds that the first time a word or phrase is mentioned
in the Bible, it has that same general meaning throughout
the Bible. Of course this only works with the
King James Bible – the ONLY Bible the Holy Spirit had
a hand in developing.
        If
the Bible is consistent (and we know it is), then there
must be some similarity between; the Old Testament
sons of God – and – the New Testament sons of God!
        God
did not write a book just to write a book; every chapter,
every verse, every phrase, every word, every letter
is put there by the Holy Spirit – for a reason.
        If
we let the Bible speak for itself and seek the Holy
Spirit for guidance, we can search out the connections
and learn. We can then understand, even though most
all will tell you that there is no connection.
        Are
these " sons of God" -- angels -- as many
propose? Are they the descendants of Abel or Seth, as
others propose? Are they aliens? Or are they the preposterous
Pre-Adamic men, a few have proposed? These are about
the only options that I’ve ever heard put forward. But
then, maybe they are…something else.
        Now
before we go any further, we need to deal with the word:
Nephilim. This Hebrew word -- Nephilim -- is found in
the 4th verse of Genesis chapter 6. This
word is accurately translated in the King James
Bible, into the English word – giant.
        Many
people and versions leave this Hebrew word – Nephilim
– untranslated. The real reason they leave it
untranslated is to spook you with this word.
This way they can introduce all sorts of pagan doctrines
– whichever one they choose. From spirits impregnating
humans, to claiming that the ancient Greek and Roman
gods are real and true, to substantiate the Pre-Adamic
men concept, and even to attempt to verify the civilization
of Atlantis. These doctrines are known in occult circles
as: Esoteric Christianity.
        Back
to our subject…
        These
"sons of God" just do not come out
of nowhere. God is not going to throw confusion at you!
        Wherever
you find confusion -- Satan, the author of confusion
(I Corinthians 14:33)-is by mis-information and/or dis-information,
attempting to keep you from knowing the real truth!

The Bible will always explain itself
or define itself. Sometimes you really have to dig,
but it is in there somewhere! DO NOT ever look to man
for final answers. Most all of the time it will
take the Holy Spirit to show you…

      "But God hath revealed them
unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth
all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what
man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit
of man which is in him? even so the things of
God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now
we have received, not the spirit of the world, but
the spirit which is of God; that we might know the
things that are freely given to us of God. Which
things also we speak, not in the words which
man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy
Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with
spiritual."
-
I Corinthians 2: 10-13
|
        The
following is what I firmly believe the Holy Spirit has
shown me.
        Some
may scoff -- but if you study this objectively and seriously
-- you will realize that it is the ONLY explanation
you have heard, which does not violate any scripture.
Nor cause one to bend or contort any words, phrases,
verses - etc.
Let
us begin…
|

"And God said, Let us make
man in our image, after our likeness… So God created
man in his own image, in the image of God created
he him; male and female created he them. And God
blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful,
and multiply"
-
Genesis 1: 26a, 27, 28a
|

Let us find out something more about
this Adam…
|

"Which was the son of Enos,
which was the son of Seth, which was the son of
Adam, which was the son of God."
-
Luke 3: 38
|
        So
we see that here -- in Jesus Christ’s genealogy -- that
the 1st son of God (small-s) was Adam.
For Adam was made in the image and likeness of God.
Also notice -- this is extremely important -- that the
genealogical line goes through Seth from Adam,
not Cain, Abel nor anyone else! This is a very
HUGE clue to our study!
        Following
the general Rule of 1st mention, let us begin
a brief study of: the New Testament sons of God.
|
      "In the beginning was the
Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God. The same was in the beginning with God. All
things were made by him; and without him was not
any thing made that was made… He was in the world,
and the world was made by him, and the world knew
him not. He came unto his own, and his own received
him not. But as many as received him, to them gave
he power to become the sons of God, even
to them that believe on his name"
--
John 1:1-3 and 10-12
|

To those who take Jesus Christ as
their personal Lord and Savior, they are also given
the future power to become – sons of God.
|
      "For our conversation is
in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour,
the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile
body, that it may be fashioned like unto
his glorious body, according to the working
whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto
himself."
-- Philippians 3: 20-21
|

      Notice again the futuristic, "Who
shall change…"
        As
we will look at later, Adam and Eve’s bodies were changed
after they ate of the forbidden fruit. So, could it
be that our bodies will be changed back?!
        This
deal about the future, when are we going to change?
|
      "Beloved, now are we the
sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we
shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear,
we shall be like him; for we shall see him as
he is."
-
I John 3: 2
|

When we appear before Lord Jesus Christ,
resurrected from this life to Eternal Life with Him
is when we shall change. David states the same in
the Old Testament…
|
"As for me, I will behold
thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied,
when I awake, with thy likeness."
-
Psalm 17: 15
|

So…if as in Philippians where it says
that our bodies will be, "fashioned like unto his
glorious body " -and- as in 1st John,
"we shall be like him" …we need to study out
Jesus Christ’s resurrected body. Would not you think?!

But just to make sure we are on the
right track, let us turn to the book of Romans…

"Know ye not, that so many
of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized
into his death? Therefore we are buried with him
by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised
up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even
so we also should walk in newness of life. For if
we have been planted together in the likeness of
his death, we shall be also in the likeness of
his resurrection:"
-
Romans 6: 3-5
|

      Again the future, "We shall
be also in the likeness of his resurrection".
Yep, we are on the right track!

Let us continue on this track to I
Corinthians…
|
"And as we have borne the
image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image
of the heavenly."
-
I Corinthians 15: 49
|

      Question; was not Adam’s original
body made in the image of the heavenly, when it was
made in God’s image and after His likeness – Genesis
1: 26?

So, if our bodies shall be like Christ’s
and "we shall also bear the image of the heavenly"
as it states here in this verse…Would that make Adam’s
original body, and Jesus Christ’s resurrected body (along
with our resurrected body) – the same?
|
      "Behold, I shew you a mystery;
we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the
last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the
dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall
be changed. For this corruptible must put on
incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption,
and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then
shall be brought to pass the saying that is written,
Death is swallowed up in victory."
-
I Corinthians 15: 51-54
|

So originally Adam was created with
a heavenly body, when Adam was created in the image
and likeness of God – Genesis 1: 26. This same type
body is promised to those who repent and turn to Jesus
Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
        How
many kinds of bodies are there?
|
"All flesh is not the same
flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another
flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another
of birds. There are also celestial bodies,
and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of
the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial
is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another
glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars:
for one star differeth from another star in glory.
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown
in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it
is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is
sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual
body. There is a natural body, and there is
a spiritual body."
-
I Corinthians 15: 39-44
|
        Here
we find that there are just 2 - kinds or types of human
bodies.

Again, if Adam was originally in the image and likeness
of God, could Lord Jesus Christ’s resurrected
body be anything other than – in the image and likeness
of God?!
        A
strange side-note to this is that Adam and Eve experienced
both the heavenly-spiritual body at their creation and
then the earthly-natural body after the fall.
        As
we will note here -- The Fall -- is when Adam and Eve
went against God’s mandatory instruction to not eat
of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good
and evil – Genesis chapters 2 and 3. When Adam and Eve
did eat of this forbidden fruit, mankind fell
into perpetual sin.

Back to Adam and Eve experiencing
both body-types…
|
"This is the book of the
generations of Adam. In the day that God created
man, in the likeness of God made he him;
Male and female created he them; and blessed them,
and called their name Adam, in the day when they
were created."
-
Genesis 5: 1-2
|

Now note the change in the very next
verse…
|
      "And Adam lived an hundred
and thirty years, and begat a son in his own
likeness, and after his image; and called his
name Seth: And the days of Adam after he had begotten
Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons
and daughters: And all the days that Adam lived
were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died."
-
Genesis 5: 3-5
|

      Notice that Adam’s 3rd-mentioned
son, Seth; is in the likeness and image of Adam – not
God.
        Therefore
from verse – 3, we deduce that the -- The Fall -- came
at approximately the 125th to the
130th year, after the Creation. Adam
and Eve have a change in body-type, from heavenly to
earthly. Going from sons of God (Luke 3:38) to sons
of man (Genesis 5:3). Then, notice that Seth is the
1st born son, after - the Fall.
        So,
mankind goes from image and likeness of God (sons of
God) -to- the likeness and image of Adam (sons of man).
Jesus Christ is born in the likeness and image of Adam
(Son of man). Then, upon living a perfect-sinless life
and being crucified, Jesus Christ was resurrected in
the image and likeness of God (Son of God).
|
"For if by one man's offence
death reigned by one; much more they which receive
abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness
shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore
as by the offence of one judgment came upon
all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness
of one the free gift came upon all men unto
justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience
many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one
shall many be made righteous."
-
Romans 5: 17-19
|

Therefore…since we are going to have
a heavenly-spiritual body like Lord Jesus Christ’s was,
after His resurrection. Let us now explore and discover
some things about it!
        First
let us go to Sunday evening, the day of Jesus Christ’s
resurrection…
|
      "And, behold, two of them
went that same day to a village called Emmaus,
which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
And they talked together of all these things which
had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they
communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself
drew near, and went with them. But their eyes
were holden that they should not know him. And he
said unto them, what manner of communications are
these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and
are sad?"
–
Luke 24: 13-17
|

Here Jesus joins up with 2 - disciples,
then…
|
      "And they drew nigh unto
the village, whither they went: and he made as though
he would have gone further. But they constrained
him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening,
and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry
with them. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat
with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake,
and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and
they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
And they said one to another, Did not our heart
burn within us, while he talked with us by the way,
and while he opened to us the scriptures?"
–
Luke 24: 28-32
|

Here Jesus vanishes – disappears --
right before their very eyes…
|
"And they rose up the same
hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven
gathered together, and them that were with them,
Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared
to Simon. And they told what things were done in
the way, and how he was known of them in breaking
of bread. And as they thus spake, Jesus
himself stood in the midst of them, and saith
unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified
and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen
a spirit. And he said unto them, why are ye troubled?
And why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold
my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle
me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and
bones, as ye see me have."
–
Luke 24: 33-39
|

      Jesus having made Himself invisible
in one village, re-appears in the midst of them
at Jerusalem!
|
"And when he had thus spoken,
he shewed them his hands and his feet. And while
they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he
said unto them, Have ye here any meat? And they
gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
And he took it, and did eat before them.
And he said unto them, These are the words which
I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that
all things must be fulfilled, which were written
in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in
the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their
understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus
it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the
dead the third day: And that repentance and remission
of sins should be preached in his name among all
nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses
of these things."
–
Luke 24: 40-48
|

Jesus in His resurrected body - -
a body the scriptures promise we shall have
upon our resurrection - - has flesh and bone, as well
as the ability to eat and drink.
We also know that Adam and Eve could
eat and drink. Also, we will need to eat and drink at
the Marriage Supper of the Lamb!
|
"And he led them out as far
as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed
them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them,
he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem
with great joy"
–
Luke 24: 50-52
|

Not only could this resurrection body
disappear and re-appear, but it could also defy gravity…it
can fly!!
        Let
us read another account of this same phenomenon…
|
"And when he had spoken these
things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and
a cloud received him out of their sight. And
while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he
went up, behold, two men stood by them in white
apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why
stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus,
which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so
come in like manner as ye have seen him go into
heaven."
–
Acts 1: 9-11
|

Where did the Lord Jesus Christ
go?
|
"So then after the Lord had
spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven,
and sat on the right hand of God."
–
Mark 16: 19
|

          Now this was at least
the 2nd- time we know, that Jesus had
flown to Heaven to be with God - the Father!

      Let
us now look at the 1st- time, upon Mary Magdalene’s
second trip back to the sepulcher…
|
      "But Mary stood without at
the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped
down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two
angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and
the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had
lain. And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest
thou? She saith unto them, because they have taken
away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid
him. And when she had thus said, she turned herself
back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that
it was Jesus. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest
thou? Whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be
the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have
borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him,
and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her,
Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni;
which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her,
Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father:
but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend
unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God,
and your God."
–
John 20: 11-17
|

While we are here in John, let’s review
this resurrection body…
|
"Then the same day at evening,
being the first day of the week, when the doors
were shut where the disciples were assembled
for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in
the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto
you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them
his hands and his side. Then were the disciples
glad, when they saw the LORD. Then said Jesus to
them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath
sent me, even so send I you."
–
John 20: 19-21
|

      This
heavenly-spiritual body can pass through solid objects…
|
      "And after eight days again
his disciples were within, and Thomas with them:
then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and
stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger,
and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand,
and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless,
but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto
him, My LORD and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas,
because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed:
blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have
believed."
-
John 20: 26-29
|

Again Jesus passes through solid walls,
this body must be extra-dimensional.
        This
will be a big help on the day of the Rapture!!

Angel to Bible-believer, "Could you step outside
please, so we can Rapture you outta here!"
        Another
Angel down the street tugging on a Bible-believer, "Hey
(!)…Wake-up, Wake-up!!
        Now…let’s
go back to Genesis, and apply what we have learned.
|
"This is the book of the
generations of Adam. In the day that God created
man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and
female created he them; and blessed them, and called
their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and
begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image;
and called his name Seth: And the days of Adam after
he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and
he begat sons and daughters"
-
Genesis 5: 1-4
|

One of the many things we learn in
the Old Testament is that; many times only the names
of significant children are recorded.
        Notice
that here in the listing of "the book of the generations
of Adam" that Cain nor Abel are listed or mentioned.
And that from here to the end of Genesis, in fact through
the next 4 books also, neither Cain nor Abel are mentioned.
        But
verse 3 is the key! Seth is not born in the image
and likeness of God. Seth is the 1st to
be born in the likeness and image of Adam after
the Fall.

God is right here very deliberately, very clearly
stating the 1st instance! We have here a
new race. No longer sons of God. This is extremely important
to get a hold of!
        Seth
is the 1st- born of the sons of men. And
remember, Jesus Christ – Lord and Creator of all – came
bodily as a son of man (fallen man) and was the
first to be bodily – restored as a son of God
– The one true Son of God.
        Question:
were not Cain and Abel and however many others - born
before Seth? How many daughters?
        Think
about it. Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born.
Also, Adam did not start out as a baby. When God made
Adam he was at least 20 years old – in comparative years
and maturity.
        Therefore;
Cain, Abel and any others born prior to Seth
were born – sons of God. These did not eat of the tree.
The fall of Adam and Eve did not directly affect
them so bodily, they remained as sons of God.
        The
fall of Adam and Eve only directly affected the bodies
of Adam, and Eve, and then Seth, on through to us.
        For
God did not tell Adam that if he sinned in any
manner, "thou shalt surely die". The ONLY
disobedience stated is; of the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it".
|
      "And the LORD God commanded
the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou
mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for
in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely
die."
–
Genesis 2: 16-17
|

Until Adam and Eve disobeyed, mankind
had not any knowledge of sin!
        By
Adam’s disobedience in this specific, Satan then became
the "god of this world" – 2 Corinthians 4:4.
The "prince of the power of the air" – Ephesians
2: 2
        As
a result of this power play, all mankind became very
acquainted with the knowledge of sin. Both the sons
of God born prior to Seth and the sons of men which
were born after Seth.
        So
then by sinful satanic influence, Cain killed Abel.
Though Cain never ate of the forbidden fruit.
        Sin’s
influence had permeated all mankind – even right up
to our present day.
|
"For we know that the whole
creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together
until now. And not only they, but ourselves also,
which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even
we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for
the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."
–
Romans 8: 22-23
|

Let us now head back to Genesis for
more analysis.
|
      "Now the serpent was more
subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD
God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath
God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the
garden?"
–
Genesis 3:1
|

Here the serpent is Satan’s instrument.
The serpent here is not a snake, but a snake – like
creature with legs. At verse – 14, he loses the legs.
|
"And when the woman saw that
the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant
to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one
wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,
and gave also unto her husband with her;
and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened,
and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed
fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking
in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and
his wife hid themselves from the presence of the
LORD God amongst the trees of the garden."
-
Genesis 3: 6-8
|

Notice in verse - 6; that Eve’s husband
Adam was right there "with her". In verse
– 7; sin enters into the World because of their disobedience.
They knew it, because everything changed – including
their bodies. And their ‘blood’, which originally, probably
more resembled a red colored chlorophyll, became tainted
and changed. But in verse – 8; here comes God, uh-oh…run!
| "Unto
the woman he [God] said, I will greatly multiply
thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt
bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to
thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."
–
Genesis 3:16
|

Here God is handing out judgment and
penalties. Question; How would Eve know she was being
punished, unless she had already had children?! By having
children previous to this penalty, Eve who represents
womankind would have a comparison. Otherwise Eve could
not know she was being punished and God would
have been just wasting His words.
|
      "And Adam called his wife's
name Eve; because she was the mother of all
living."
–
Genesis 3:20
|

      Notice the word "was"? The
word "was" is past indicative, which means
been there, done that. This verse states, "because
she was the mother of all living". Not;
will be, shall be, going to be, etc.
        Also,
"mother of all living" – who living? How many
living? This is a present tense statement, or at least
present tense at the time it was made. These are questions
inquiring minds want to know!
        But
this we do know – there were some living.
I firmly believe there were others and I believe Cain
and Abel to be included.
        A
couple of other verses we need to look at along this
line, are the ones where God is handing out judgment
and penalty directly to Cain…
|
"And Cain said unto the LORD,
My punishment is greater than I can bear. Behold,
thou hast driven me out this day from the face of
the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and
I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth;
and it shall come to pass, that every one that
findeth me shall slay me. And the LORD said
unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance
shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set
a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should
kill him. And Cain went out from the presence of
the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east
of Eden. And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived,
and bare Enoch"
–
Genesis 4: 13-17A
|

      First; who are "every
one that findeth me"?! Secondly ; Cain had a wife,
from whence did this woman come? It seems obvious
that Cain’s wife was one of his sisters (the gene pool
was not as corrupt as it is today). Here we have proof,
that not all the children of Adam and Eve are made known
or named in the Bible.
        Having
made these points, let us move on –
|
      "And Cain knew his wife;
and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded
a city, and called the name of the city, after the
name of his son, Enoch. And unto Enoch was born
Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat
Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech. And Lamech
took unto him two wives: the name of the one was
Adah, and the name of the other Zillah."
–
Genesis 4: 17-19
|

      So
here we have the beginning genealogy of the "sons
of God". And the 1st bigamist, next
coming is polygamy. Also; did Abel have a wife? If so,
kids? This we do not know. But as we can see,
there were many sons of God!
|
"This is the book of the
generations of Adam. In the day that God created
man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and
female created he them; and blessed them, and called
their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and
begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image;
and called his name Seth: And the days of Adam after
he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and
he begat sons and daughters: And all the days that
Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and
he died. And Seth lived an hundred and five years,
and begat Enos: And Seth lived after he begat Enos
eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and
daughters"
-
Genesis 5: 1-7
|

And on and on it goes. Here we have
the beginning genealogy of the "sons of man".
Notice again – the book of the generations of Adam begins
with Seth, not Abel or Cain nor anyone else!
        So
we have just seen the lineage of Cain – the sons of
God, and the lineage of Seth – the sons of man (or men).
        Which
brings us to…
|
      "And
it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the
face of the earth, and daughters were born unto
them, That the sons of God saw the daughters
of men that they were fair; and they took
them wives of all which they chose. And the
LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with
man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall
be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants
in the earth in those days; and also after that,
when the sons of God came in unto the daughters
of men, and they bare children to them, the
same became mighty men which were of old, men of
renown. And God saw that the wickedness of man was
great in the earth, and that every imagination of
the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."
"And God looked upon the earth, and, behold,
it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his
way upon the earth."
-
Genesis 6: 1-5 and 12
|

      So
now we see very clearly, that the sons of God and the
Nephilim - - which is the Hebrew word for Giant - -
did not just come out of nowhere!
        I
am well aware that many claim these sons of God to be
angels. But God does not call angels "sons of God".
He calls them "angels of God"…
|
      "And he dreamed, and behold
a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it
reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God
ascending and descending on it."
–
Gen. 28: 12
|
|
"And Jacob went on his way,
and the angels of God met him."
–
Gen. 32: 1
|
What we just read, is in
the same book of Genesis, written by the same author
- Moses - under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
He uses two completely different phrases - "angels
of God" and "sons of God" - to designate
two completely different groups.
God is very specific and does
not waste His words, for if he did he could fill the
whole universe with them (John 21:25).
Now we will go to the New
Testament...
|
        "For in the resurrection
they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but
are as the angels of God in heaven."

  – Matthew 22: 30
|
|
"Also I say unto you, Whosoever
shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of
man also confess before the angels of God:
But he that denieth me before men shall be denied
before the angels of God."
–
Luke 12: 8-9
|
|
      "Likewise, I say unto you,
there is joy in the presence of the angels of
God over one sinner that repenteth."
–
Luke 15: 10
|
|
"And he saith unto him, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven
open, and the angels of God ascending and
descending upon the Son of man."
–
John 1: 51
|
|
      "And again, when he bringeth
in the first begotten into the world, he saith,
And let all the angels of God worship him.
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels
spirits"
–
Hebrews 1: 6-7a
|

I am also aware that some claim the
lineage of Seth to be the sons of God mentioned in Genesis
chapter 6, because Seth is the 'godly' one. They claim
the lineage of Cain to be the daughters and sons of
men, because Cain is the evil one.

But consider this, God himself calls
Ezekiel "son of man" 4-times in the 2nd
chapter of the book of Ezekiel. Then God continues to
call Ezekiel "son of man" throughout the book.
Ezekiel is obviously godly, yet God calls him
son of man, therefore, that explanation for the sons
of God is as erroneous as the angel one.

Besides, since when has a saved (godly)
and an unsaved (evil) couple had a child that turned
out different in any way than any other child?
        Satan
has blinded the eyes of men today and only the
Holy Spirit can open men’s eyes, that they can see the
truth. But when man seeks to follow man, whether it
be commentaries or institutions, man will be
led astray.
        Let
us continue the discussion…could these "sons of
God" be angels?

If they were, that would make Adam
and Eve angels before the Fall of Man. Such may be so
in ' The Book of Mormon', but not in the Bible.
Adam was not made in the image and likeness of
an angel. If the sons of God were angels, then that
would mean we would become angels at the resurrection,
and this we know is not so.
        It
is IMPOSSIBLE that "sons of God" are angels!
        Why?
Look at verse 2 of Genesis chapter 6 – "they took
them wives". Angels can NOT marry!
|
      "Jesus answered and said
unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures,
nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they
neither marry, nor are given in marriage,
but are as the angels of God in heaven."
–
Matthew 22: 29-30
|

      The words like and as
are both important and descriptive. But again notice
– "the angels of God" NOT - 'the sons of God'.
        Angels
are sexless…
|
      "And Jesus answering said
unto them, The children of this world marry,
and are given in marriage: But they which shall
be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the
resurrection from the dead, neither marry,
nor are given in marriage: Neither can they
die any more: for they are equal unto the angels;
and are the children of God, being the children
of the resurrection. "
–
Luke 20: 34-36
|

      Notice
in the previous verses that there is a distinction between
"the angels" and "the children of God"
(meaning those which are Saved), yet neither
marry.

      Study out marriage throughout the
Bible. You will find that there is not a God
ordained ceremony. Only that two become one, and to
be fruitful and multiply. Marriage is synonymous with
a committed relationship of sexual intimacy throughout
the Bible of a woman and a man.

I am very much aware that there are
those who defiantly teach that angels are
not sexless.

      Throughout the Scriptures, angels
are described as appearing as men – but NEVER
males! Think about it; a woman can appear as a man (clothes,
cut of hair, etc.) but never as a male – at least
not without a lot of surgery. The word "male"
is used many times in the Bible, but never in
conjunction with angels. God uses the word "male"
when He chooses to distinguish the sexual characteristics.
God uses the word "man" when He wants
to denote human aspects, minus the sexual. Its the same
with the words, "female", "woman",
etc.
        Also, angels are NOT androgynous,
which means having BOTH male and female characteristics.
Angels are a-sexual, or non-sexual beings.
        Most
bible institutions teach that all angels are
males. Is God’s Heaven a homosexual haven?! I
don’t think so! Did God create angels to be sexually
frustrated for eternity. If that were true, no
wonder so many rebelled! Think about it!!
        Also,
there are some bible institutes which teach that ALL
Born-Again women are sexually transformed into males
at their resurrection!! A big promoter of this heretical
nonsense is the Rev. Dr. Peter S. Ruckman.
        The
sons of God could not be ‘fallen angels’, because ‘fallen
angels’ are what is termed; devils, demons, evil spirits,
etc. Some may be what some have described as aliens
from outer space. And again; the pre-Adamic men hypothesis
is pure pagan-heresy.

There are also many who teach or imply
that the sons of God are not the angels that fell with
Lucifer/Satan. But that they are angels from God’s Heaven
who voluntarily left after the rebellious
mutiny in Heaven was over, to co-habitate with earthly
women…
|
      "And the angels which kept
not their first estate, but left their own habitation,
he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness
unto the judgment of the great day."
–
Jude 6
|

      What
this verse is actually saying is; the angels who fell
with their leader Lucifer/Satan, "left" --
or decided to leave -- when they chose to rebel against
their Creator. See our article: "The WHY of Salvation-the
Eternal Significance of Man".
        At
any rate, what these people who spin this verse out
of proportion are intending to do is to plant in people’s
minds that: the things on this earth are actually preferable
to the Wonders of God’s Heaven. These are usually the
same people who defiantly state that angels are not
sexless, but are males.
        As
Jesus stated to the Pharisee’s of his day, He would
state to these today, "Ye do err not knowing the
Scriptures." Also that they are spiritually blind,
such as; Peter Ruckman, E.W. Bullinger, George Pember,
G.H. Lang, Bob Jones (all of them), Finis Jennings Dake.
        Now
that we have conclusively proven that angels of any
and every type cannot be the "sons of God",
let ;us go back to the book of Genesis…
|
      "There were giants in the
earth in those days; and also after that,
when the sons of God came in unto the daughters
of men, and they bare children to them, the same
became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."
-
Genesis 6: 4
|

      "There were giants in those days;
and also after that" – this implies that some sons
of God made it through the flood of Noah. This we have
examples of -- giants -- up to the time of King David
– which we will get to.
        Now
we know from our study, that sons of God could disappear,
re-appear and fly. But if you think about it, most likely
only the pure sons of God could do this. Those who were
the off-spring of co-habitation of sons of God with
the fallen race of man - - that are here called giants
- - being bi-racial, most probably could not disappear
or fly.
        Let
us now look at 2 - verses in the book of Job…
|
"Now there was a day when
the sons of God came to present themselves
before the LORD, and Satan came also among them."
–
Job 1: 6
|
|
      "Again there was a
day when the sons of God came to present
themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also
among them to present himself before the LORD."
–
Job 2:1
|

This might be an example of them flying.
But which of the 3 - heavens are they meeting in (2
Corinthians 12: 2)? Or is it an obscure place on Earth?
This could be an example of them disappearing and then
re-appearing some where above the clouds or near space.
        God
required this similar type meeting of the Hebrews back
in Moses day…
|
"Three times in a year shall
all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in
the place which he shall choose"
–
Deuteronomy 16: 16a
|

This is also found in Exodus 23: 17
and 34: 23.
        So…what
ever happened to these original sons of God?
|
      "God standeth in the congregation
of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the
persons of the wicked? Selah. Defend the poor and
fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the
hand of the wicked. They know not, neither will
they understand; they walk on in darkness:
all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are
children of the most High. But ye shall die
like men, and fall like one of the princes."
–
Psalm 82: 1-7
|

God decreed that these sons of God
shall die like common men, in verse 7.
        Though
we do not have recorded the deaths of these sons of
God, we can follow the demise of their off-spring-the
giants.
        Let
us check them out after the flood of Noah. We pick it
up after the Exodus of the Hebrews out of the land of
Egypt and out of the hand of Pharaoh…
|
      "And there we saw the
giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the
giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers,
and so we were in their sight"
–
Numbers 13:33
|

This is after the 12-men were sent
to spy out the Promised Land. So moving on in time,
we find that there are various groups of giants of different
names…
|
      "The Emims dwelt therein
in times past, a people great, and many, and tall,
as the Anakims; Which also were accounted giants,
as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.
The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the
children of Esau succeeded them"
-
Deuteronomy 2: 10-12A
|

Now we will see God in the process
of killing them off…
|
      "(That also was accounted
a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time;
and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims; A people
great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the
LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded
them, and dwelt in their stead: As he did to the
children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed
the Horims from before them; and they succeeded
them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:
And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto
Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor,
destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)"
–
Deuteronomy 2: 20-23
|

In a large part of Canaan (known currently
as the Golan Heights), there is only one Giant left…
|
"For only Og king of Bashan
remained of the remnant of giants; behold his bedstead
was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of
the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length
thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after
the cubit of a man."
-
Deuteronomy 3:11
|

Leaving the days of Moses, let us
move on to the days of Joshua and to another area where
there were giants dwelling…
|
"And at that time came Joshua,
and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from
Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the
mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of
Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with
their cities. There was none of the Anakims left
in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza,
in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained."
–
Joshua 11:21-22
|

At this point in time we see the giants
nearly eliminated. But there are still a few, and a
couple or so are in Gath – now who do we know in Gath?!
        This
will take us all the way to David, before he was king…
|
"And there went out a champion
out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath,
of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span."
–
I Samuel 17:4
|

We all know the rest of this story.
But many may not know about a later battle with the
Philistines several years after David was crowned King
of Israel…
|
"And it came to pass after
this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines;
at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai,
that was of the children of the giant: and
they were subdued. And there was war again with
the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew
Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite,
whose spear staff was like a weaver's beam. And
yet again there was war at Gath, where was
a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes
were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six
on each foot and he also was the son of the giant.
But when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea
David's brother slew him. These were born unto the
giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David,
and by the hand of his servants."
–
I Chronicles 20: 4-8
|

This same account is also set forth
at II Samuel 21: 15-22, but with more detail.

Now that the giants - - the off-spring
of the sons of God - - are now annihilated from off
the face of this Earth – look at the very next verse…
|
      "And Satan stood up against
Israel, and provoked David to number Israel."
–
I Chronicles 21: 1
|

This is the very first direct mention
of Satan, the very first time this name is used!
        Now
having completed this study, you may still be saying
to yourself – this is difficult to believe. I agree
this is probably the 1st time you have heard
this description. But then ALL explanations
on Genesis 6: 1-4 are difficult.
        But
if you go over this study prayerfully, this explanation
you have just went over, has more Scripture and logic
by far than ALL the other explanations combined!
It does NOT violate any Scripture as all the others
do, and you do not have to bend, twist or contort any
word or verse, in or out of context. No embellishments,
just straight forward Scripture.
