Just WHO are These Giants in Genesis 6:4? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Who are these "sons of God" that are first mentioned here in the Book of Genesis. Also, who are these "daughters of men" and then, these giants. Where did they come from? What were they like? Where did they go? We assuredly know who the "sons of God" are in the New Testament. But do we know and understand their attributes? Though to make sure we are on the same page, we will do a quick review in the process. If the Bible is the Word of God and not just a "good" book, there must be a connection between the sons of God in the Old Testament and the sons of God in the New Testament. Remember the general, "Rule of 1st Mention"? Most call it the "Law of 1st Mention", but it cannot be a law, because it does not always hold true for every word. The general, "Rule of 1st Mention" holds that the first time an important word or phrase is mentioned in the Bible, it has that same general meaning throughout most of the Bible. Of course this only works with the King James Bible. If the Bible has consistency (and we know that it does), then there must be similarity between: the Old Testament “sons of God” – and – the New Testament “sons of God”. If we let the Bible speak for itself and seek the Holy Spirit for guidance, we can search out the connections and learn. We can then gain understanding, even though most all of the Bible expositors will tell you that there is absolutely no connection. Are these "sons of God" -- angels of some type -- as many propose? Are they the descendants of Abel or Seth, as others suppose? Are they aliens? Or, are they the preposterous Pre-Adamic men, that yet others have asserted? Oh and unless we forget, there are The Watchers, that others make the claim that they are. These are about the only options that I’ve ever heard put forward. But then again, maybe they are… something not mentioned here. Now before we go any further, we need to deal with the word: Nephilim. This Hebrew word -- Nephilim -- is found in the 4th verse of Genesis chapter 6. This word is very accurately translated in the King James Bible, into the English word – giants. Most so-called scholars and Bible versions leave this Hebrew word – Nephilim – un-translated. The real reason they leave it un-translated, and instead just transliterate it, is to spook you with this word. This way they can introduce all sorts of pagan doctrines – whichever one they are persuaded of. From spirits of various types impregnating humans, to claiming that the ancient Greek and/or Roman gods were/are real and true, or to substantiate the Pre-Adamic men concept, and some even attempt to verify the civilization of Atlantis by this verse. Some of these doctrines are known in occult circles as: Esoteric Christianity to some and just plain occult doctrine to most others. In fact, Nephilim and Gap 'theories' tend to get inter-twined because they are offshoots of the same pagan 'lore'. See our article: "Gap Hypothesis" (after about half way through) for more explaination. Back to our subject… These "sons of God" do not just come out of nowhere. God is not going to throw confusion at you. In fact, they were already introduced in the previous chapters; as we will explain. Wherever you find confusion - Satan, the author of confusion (I Corinthians 14:33) is by mis-information and/or dis-information, attempting to keep you from knowing the real truth. The Bible will explain itself or define itself. Now sometimes you really have to dig, but it is in there somewhere. Do not look to man for final answers, you must always maintain all persons in subjection to you; especially if they have titles and/or degrees. For if you do not do this, you can get led astray very easily, and believe me it happens all the time, every day. Most of the time, it will take the Holy Spirit to show you. Therefore you need to work on your relationship with God, by studying the Word of God and prayer.
You have to keep in mind that no 2 Bible colleges teach exactly the same things; In fact their teachings run the gamut, they are all over the spectrum. This is why I call myself a Bible-believer rather than a Christian, it narrows things down a whole lot. Example: Some Christians teach that abortion is OK and others teach that it is murder; some Christians teach that homosexuality is OK and others teach that it is an abomination. I will stand firm with the King James Bible, Thank You. The following is what I firmly believe that the Holy Spirit has shown me; through the Word of God. Some may scoff, but if you study this objectively and seriously, you will realize that it is the only explanation you have heard, which does not violate any scripture, transgresses logic nor embraces any form of pagan lore. Let us begin…
Let us find out something more about this first man (named Adam), by jumping over to the genealogical listing in the New Testament Book of Luke...
So we see that here in Jesus Christ’s genealogy, that the 1st son of God (small-s) was Adam. For Adam was made in the image and likeness of God. Also notice -- this is extremely important -- that the genealogical line goes through Seth from Adam, not Cain, Abel nor anyone else. This is a very HUGE clue to our study! Following the general Rule of 1st Mention, let us begin a brief study of the New Testament sons of God. Before we go comparing them back to the sons of God in Genesis.
To those who take Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, they are also given the power to become sons of God; in the future...
Notice again the futuristic, "Who shall change our vile body". As we will look at later, Adam and Eve’s bodies were changed to a fallen condition, after they ate of the forbidden fruit. So, could it be that our bodies will be changed back, to the un-fallen condition?! These projections about the future... when is it that we are going to change?
When we appear before the Lord Jesus Christ, after being resurrected from this life to Eternal Life with Him, is when we shall be changed. David states the same in the Old Testament...
So if… as it says in Philippians that our bodies will be, "fashioned like unto his glorious body" and, as in 1st John, "we shall be like him"... we need to study out Jesus Christ’s resurrected body; would you not think? But just to make sure that we are on the right track here, let us turn to the Book of Romans...
Again the futuristic, "We shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection". Yep, we are on the right track! Let us continue on this track and take note of, I Corinthians...
Question: Was not Adam’s original body made in the image of the heavenly before The Fall, when it was made in God’s image and after His likeness, as it states in Genesis 1: 26? So, if our bodies shall be like Christ’s, and "we shall also bear the image of the heavenly" as it states in the verse above… Would that make Adam’s original body, and Jesus Christ’s resurrected body (along with our resurrected body), substantially the same type of body?
So originally, Adam was created with a heavenly body type, when Adam was created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1: 26). This same type body, is promised to those who repent and turn to Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. But, you do need to get this ingrained into your heart and mind: you cannot just add Jesus to your life and get to Heaven, for one cannot get there by that means, you must repent and submit unto him as Lord and Savior. How many classifications of bodies are there?
Here we find that there are just -2- kinds, types or classifications of human bodies: the natural-terrestrial class and the spiritual-celestial class. Again: if Adam was originally in the image and likeness of God, could Lord Jesus Christ’s resurrected body be anything other… than in the image and likeness of God? A strange side-note to this is that Adam and Eve experienced them both: the heavenly-spiritual body for approximately 130 years from their creation, and then the earthly-natural body after their fall. They went from King and Queen of the Earth, to common gardeners of the earth. As we will note here -- The Fall -- is when Adam and Eve went against God’s mandatory instruction not to eat of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil: Genesis chapters 2 and 3. When Adam and Eve did eat of this forbidden fruit, sin was allowed to enter into this world. Subsequently, mankind that was born from Adam and Eve after The Fall, had bodies that were of the earthly-natural body type. But the punishment as far as body type, was not retroactive to those born to Adam and Eve and their descendents before The Fall, because they did not eat of the forbidden fruit; but now all had to reckon with sin. Back to Adam and Eve experiencing both body types...
Now note the change in the very next verse…
Notice that Adam’s third sequentially mentioned son, Seth: is in the likeness and image of Adam – NOT in the image and likeness of God. We observe in this verse, in very unique, specific language - this change in the bodily state of mankind, and Seth in particular. Therefore from verse 3, we deduce that -- The Fall -- came at approximately the 125th to the 130th year, after the Creation. Adam and Eve then have a change in body-type, from heavenly to earthly; or you could also say, from celestial to terrestrial. Going from sons of God (Genesis 1:26, Luke 3:38) to sons of man (Genesis 5:3). Then note also, that Seth is the 1st born son, after – The Fall. So, mankind goes from the image and likeness of God (sons/daughters of God) – to - the likeness and image of Adam (sons/daughters of man). Therefore Jesus Christ had to be born in the likeness and image of Adam (Son of man). Then, upon living a sinless life and shedding His own blood to cover the endless sin of mankind, Jesus Christ was resurrected in the image and likeness of God (Son of God). Wherefore… since we are going to have an heavenly-spiritual body like the Lord Jesus Christ’s, after His resurrection; let us now explore and discover some things about it! First let us go to Sunday evening, the day of the resurrection of Jesus Christ...
Here Jesus joins up with 2 - disciples, then…
Here Jesus vanishes/disappears, right before their very eyes…
Jesus having made Himself invisible in one village at the dinner table, then He re-appears in the midst of them at Jerusalem!
Jesus in His resurrected body, a body the scriptures promise that we shall have upon our resurrection, has flesh and bone; as well as the ability to eat and drink. We also know that Adam and Eve could eat and drink. Also, we will need to be able to eat and drink at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb!
Not only could this resurrection body disappear and re-appear, but it could also defy gravity… it can fly! Let us read another account of this same phenomenon...
Where did the Lord Jesus Christ go?
Now this was at least the second time we know of, that Jesus had transitioned to Heaven to be with God - the Father! Let us now look at the first time He transitioned to Heaven, this was upon Mary Magdalene’s second trip back to the sepulcher…
Let us pull over, and put it in Park for a minute… ALL of Heaven had been watching those many impassionate, horrifying and tormented hours, awaiting distraught, and in anguish, for whatever was next to happen; after Jesus had been wrapped and enclosed in a tomb. THEN, for him to just suddenly appear, in the same Heaven that he had left, 30-some years ago. There must have been such an internal rush, of overwhelming intermixtures of emotion going on inside of each and every being, in the Heaven of God… yet on the exterior, they would have been statues of stunned silence. But after moments of their head swirling with questions, it would all turn into an amazingly tearful serenity, bursting with great joy. If you ever want to meditate on something, meditate on that moment for a while. So putting it back in Drive, while we are here in John, let’s review this resurrection body...
This heavenly-spiritual body can pass through solid objects. This will be a big help on the day of the Rapture! Angel to Bible-believer, "Could you step outside please, so we can Rapture you outta here!" Another Angel down the street tugging on a Bible-believer, "Hey(!) Wake-up, Wake-up!” Now… let us go back to Genesis, and apply what we have learned.
One of the myriad of things we can learn in the Old Testament, is that most times only the names of significant children are recorded. Notice that here in the listing of "the book of the generations of Adam" that neither Cain nor especially Abel are listed or mentioned. And that from here to the end of Genesis, in fact through the next 4 Books of Moses also, neither Cain nor Abel are mentioned again. But verse 3 as we said before, is the key. Seth is not born in the image and likeness of God. Seth is the first to be born in the likeness and image of Adam, after The Fall. God is right here and right now very deliberately, very clearly stating the 1st instance of a new race: the sons of man. This is extremely important to get a hold of. Seth is the first-born, son of man, but Adam was the first-made son of man; ‘made’ because of The Fall. And remember, Jesus Christ the Lord and Creator of all, was born bodily as a son of man (fallen man) and was the first to be bodily restored as a son of God – The one true Son of God. Question: How many other sons were born to Adam and Eve, besides Cain and Abel, before Seth was born? How many daughters? Think about it. Adam and Eve were 130 years old when Seth was born. Also, they did not start out as babies. When God made Adam he was at least 20 years old – in comparative years and physical/sexual maturity. Therefore, Cain, Abel and any others born prior to Seth were born as: sons/daughters of God. These did not eat of the forbidden fruit from the tree. The fall of Adam and Eve did not directly affect them, bodily. So then they remained as sons/daughters of God, along with their offspring, up to the time of the flood. The Fall, ushered in a new ingredient into the mix, which now spiritually effected everyone and everything. That new factor was Lucifer-Satan being allowed to bring his fellow rebels to this Earth and into this heaven (Genesis 1: 7-8) from the second heaven (Genesis 1: 1) that God had kicked them into, when He expelled them from His Heaven (2 Corinthians 12: 2). Spiritual death was introduced by The Fall… but was there any physical death prior to The Fall? Yes, there was physical death prior to The Fall. Besides bugs being accidentally stepped on, many small creatures have short life-cycles; though they would probably have been longer before The Flood of Noah, than they are today. The Fall would not have had any effect on this. Also, you cannot prevent animals / people from being clumsy; we do know that there was not any murder nor senseless killings, prior to The Fall. Remember also that life on this planet had been going on for between 125 – 130 years, prior to The Fall. I only brought this up because a lot of people seem not to make a distinction between spiritual death and physical death. Most everyone seems to teach it as if there is no distinction, and entangling the two together. The Fall of Adam and Eve only directly affected the bodies of Adam and Eve; and then Seth, on through to us: by way of Noah, his wife, three sons and three daughters in-law.
Again… “for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” solitarily speaks to spiritual death – only; and this death separately from all other life forms that existed (animal, insect, marine, etc). These other life forms were created by God and were destined to die physically, regardless of whether Adam ate of the forbidden fruit or not. Also, Adam lived for another 800+ years… that was a long day for Adam to die in! So… from where did mankind’s physical death come from: both sons of man and sons of God?! Physical death came from the fact that they no longer had access to the ‘Tree of Life’...
Until Adam and Eve disobeyed: mankind had not any knowledge of sin, or of things that are evil, depraved, unholy, etc. All that mankind had known up to this time, was the knowledge of good. They only knew the beauty and marvelous wonders of God; and the loving, the caring, the concern and the fulfillment of all things. It wasn’t until after they had eaten of the forbidden fruit, from the ‘Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil’: therefore gaining the knowledge of evil. By Adam’s disobedience in this specific, Satan then became the "god of this world" – 2 Corinthians 4:4. The "prince of the power of the air" – Ephesians 2: 2. As a result of first Eve and then Adam being outwitted by Satan, all mankind became very acquainted with the knowledge of sin; both the sons of God and their heritage, and the sons of man and their heritage who were born after Seth. So then by sinful satanic influence, Cain killed Abel; though Cain never ate of the forbidden fruit. The influence of sin had permeated all mankind – even right up to our present day.
Let us now head back to Genesis for more analysis.
Here the serpent is Satan’s instrument. The serpent here is not a snake, but a snake-like creature with legs (a large salamander?). At verse 14, it loses its’ legs, but snakes have adapted well to their environs and are as happy as any other reptile in the wild.
Notice in verse - 6: that Eve’s husband Adam was right there "with her". In verse – 7: sin enters into the World because of their disobedience. They knew it, because everything changed – including their bodies. But in verse – 8: here comes God, uh-oh…run!
So here we have God handing out penalties. So, I have a question: How would Eve know if she was being punished, unless she had already had children? By having children previous to this penalty, Eve who represents womankind would have a comparison. Otherwise Eve could not know she was being punished, and God would have been just wasting His words.
Notice the word "was"? The word "was" indicates something in the past; in other words, its been there, done that. This verse states, "because she was the mother of all living" not: will be the mother, shall be the mother, going to be the mother, etc. Also, "mother of all living" generates questions such as: Who living? How many living? These are questions inquiring minds want to know! But this we do know – there were some living. I firmly believe there were others and I believe Cain and Abel to be included. Just because these two brothers are first mentioned after The Fall, does not mean that they were not alive before. God is mostly setting forth facts in the early chapters of the Genesis account. Cain and Abel really had nothing to do with anything, up until the time that they are introduced to document the influence of Satan; how he influenced change to religious practice and then arranged the first murder. God was setting forth the extent that sin had quickly gone. Regardless, God had to pick out some event or events for chapter 4, to summarize the consequences of chapter 3 and to evidence that there were off-spring; before moving on to Chapter 5 and the description involving Seth as being the first born of the new fallen race. Otherwise the description involving Seth would not have an understandable context: and the sons of God / daughters of men situation would not have an accurate contextual relation, as well as some of the other insight we gain from the rest of Genesis chapter 6. But before moving on, we need to make more sense of Genesis chapter 4. The first 2-verses of this chapter, God goes back in context, to introduce Cain and Abel and also to set forth that they were created by pro-creation. To summarize: Adam was directly created by God from the dust of the ground, Eve was directly created by God from a rib of Adam; then everyone else was by pro-creation of a man and a woman. God lays it out very unmistakably how mankind began to multiply upon the face of the Earth (rather than the other theories out there). So after going back in time to before The Fall with verses 1 and 2, we are then brought up to speed contextually in verse 3 when it states, “And in process of time it came to pass”. This is how God shows that a period of time elapses in the text. A couple of other verses we need to look at, are the ones where God is handing out punishment directly to Cain…
First: Who are "every one that findeth me"?! Secondly: Cain had a wife; from whence did this woman come? It seems obvious that Cain’s wife was one of his sisters or possibly a niece; the gene pool was not corrupt as it is today, and Moses and all the Laws about this type of thing were centuries in the future. But here we have proof, that not all of the children of Adam and Eve are made known or named in the Bible. In fact, I’m completely certain that by the time of The Fall, they had at the very least, great-great-grand children. Having made these points, let us move on.
So here we have a beginning genealogy of some of the "sons of God", and the first bigamist. Also: Did Abel have a wife? If so: kids? This we do not know. But as we can see by calculating this all out just in our heads, there were multitudes of the sons of God!
And on and on it goes. Here we have the beginning genealogy of the "sons of man". Notice again – the book of the generations of Adam begins with Seth, not Abel or Cain nor anyone else. So we have just seen some of the lineage of the sons of God, and some of the lineage of the sons of man. Which brings us back to…
So now we see very clearly, that the sons of God and the giants, did not just come out of nowhere (outer space, dark-side of the moon, Jupiter and the ‘Dog Star’ Sirius included). Again, I am very well aware, that many claim these sons of God to be angels of one type or another, and this would include “The Watchers”. But God does not call angels "sons of God". God calls them "angels of God”...
What we just read, is in the same Book of Genesis, written by the same author - Moses - under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Or: did Moses write it under the direct dictation of God, on the mountain top when he was with God for forty days and nights; when he also received the 10 – Commandments? At any rate, we have two completely different phrases being used - "angels of God" and "sons of God" - to designate two completely different groups in the same, Book of Genesis. Now, we will go to the New Testament and view 4 – different book...
I am also aware that some claim the lineage of Seth, to be the sons of God mentioned in Genesis chapter 6, because Seth is the godly one; others have reasoned the same with Abel. They then claim the lineage of Cain, to be the daughters of men, because Cain is the evil one. But consider this: God himself calls Ezekiel "son of man" 4-times in the 2nd chapter of the Book of Ezekiel. Then God continues to call Ezekiel "son of man" throughout the Book. Ezekiel is obviously godly, yet God calls him “son of man”. Therefore that explanation, is erroneous. Besides, for centuries there have been couples where one is a Saved person “godly” and the other is an un-Saved person “evil” and they have never produced hybrid giants! But let us pullover again and put it in Park. I came across a most interesting phenomenon in God’s creation that I believe corresponds to the subject at hand: There are Lions, Tigers, Ligers and Tigons, with the last two being anomalies. Lions and Tigers are somewhat equivalent in size and weight, and I would believe that the sons/daughters of God, would have also been similar in size and weight to the sons/daughters of man. Yet here is the strikingly comparable characteristic: when a male Lion mates with a female Tiger, it produces an offspring called a Liger, that is twice the size of either of the two parents, a giant if you will. But if you reverse the process, and mate a male Tiger with a female Lion, a Tigon is the result and they are a little smaller than either of their parents. So, in this real life analogy, Lions would represent the “sons of God”, Tigers would represent the “daughters of men” and Ligers would represent the giants (or the transliterated Nephilim). And the reverse of that process would be represented by the Tigons, the results of which would not be notable enough to record in the Bible for posterity. Want proof? Go to; www.ligerliger.com – or – www.ligerfacts.org And now we put it back into Drive… Satan has blinded the eyes of men historically, and only the Holy Spirit can open men’s eyes that they can see the truth. But when man seeks to follow man, whether it be books, commentaries or institutions, that man who is seeking truth will most of the time be led astray, especially in today’s world. Let us continue on with our topic: could these "sons of God" be angels? This time we will attack it from a different direction. If they were, that would have made Adam and Eve angels before the Fall of Man. Such may be so in 'The Book of Mormon ', but not in the Bible. Adam was not made in the image and likeness of an angel. If the sons of God were angels, then that would mean we would become angels at the resurrection, and this we know is not so. It is impossible that the "sons of God" are angels of any type. Why? Look at verse 2 of Genesis chapter 6 – "they took them wives". Angels can not marry!
The words like and as are both important and are used in the Bible to describe something. Example: The Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus like a dove when baptized by John; that does not mean that the Holy Spirit is a dove or that a dove is the Holy Spirit. Angels are also sexless…
Notice in the previous verse that there is a distinction between "the angels" and "the children of God" (meaning: sons/daughters of God), yet neither marry. Study marriage throughout the Bible and you will find that there is not a God ordained ceremony. Only that two become one, and to be fruitful and multiply. Marriage is synonymous with a committed relationship of sexual intimacy throughout the Bible, of a woman and a man. I am very much aware that there are those who defiantly teach that angels are not sexless. Throughout the Scriptures, angels are described as appearing as a man, that is true – but never are they ever described as males. In other words, the angels appearance is masculine. Think about it: even a woman can appear masculine, or as a man (clothes, cut of hair, body builders, etc.) but never as a male (at least not without a lot of surgery). The word "male" is used many times in the Bible, but never in conjunction with angels. God uses the word "male" when He chooses to distinguish the sexual characteristics; and then it is for a purpose. God uses the word "man" when in general discussion, which is most of the time. It is the same with the words, "female", "woman", etc. Also, angels are not androgynous, which means having both male and female functions or characteristics; nor are they hermaphrodites. Angels are a-sexual, or in other words, they are non-sexual beings. Most Bible institutions teach that angels are males. Is God’s Heaven a homosexual haven? I don’t think so. Did God create angels to be sexually frustrated for eternity? If that were true, no wonder so many rebelled. But really... think about it. Also, there are some bible institutes which teach that ALL Born-Again women are sexually transformed into males at their resurrection! A big promoter of this heretical nonsense is the Rev. Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, B.A., B.D., M.A., Th.M., Ph.D. He is President of Pensacola Bible Institute and The Reverence of Bible Baptist Church, Pensacola , Florida. This man claims that God, at the moment of the resurrection puts the woman through a trans-sexual process, whereby females become: now get this - sexual males. Dr. Ruckman states in his 'Genesis' commentary, reprint 1995 from 1969 original: "Although the woman… she will be male in the first resurrection” - page 70. So... going now to Ruckman's 'Matthew' commentary, reprint 2000 from 1970 original, we find:
That is just so unbelievably un-believe-able; it is indescribably unbelievable! And that old wolf has thousands of groupie/devotees across America proclaiming him to be, “the greatest mind the world has ever known”. There are also churches that declare themselves to be a “Ruckman church”. Mindless people often follow mental midgets. There is also a Gnostic gospel that embraces this same freakish doctrine, it is one of a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. This particular book is called - The Gospel of Thomas: “Simon Peter says to them: "Let Mary go out from our midst, for women are not worthy of life!" Jesus says: "See, I will draw her so as to make her male, so that she also may become a living spirit like you males. For every woman who has become male will enter the Kingdom of heaven" – Saying 114. So then... once you get your head wrapped around that bizarre doctrine… or not, it leads us into this next disclosure: God is not male. God Himself never had nor ever will, have personal designs on human-type procreation. Neither the Father nor the Spirit have ever been male; and Jesus was only temporarily when he walked on this Earth as a man: being "in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin" - Hebrews 4:15. Thereupon, Jesus was resurrected as a masculine appearing “man” not as a male. Also, therein lies the one definite difference between the sons of God in Heaven and the sons of God on Earth - the sons of God in Heaven are a-sexual, due to the fact that there is no procreation there. But the sons of God in Genesis were male; they had to be, because God had decided upon procreation as His chosen method for beings to multiply on this Earth. We have categorically proven that sexual procreation, as the way for multiplying species in mankind and the animal world: is non-existent, in the realms of God’s Heaven. God created all the beings that he had in His Heaven, and then when they were put to the test, a third of them rebelled. So at that point, God had secured all the rest; for they had openly declared their loyalty and faith in Him. So instead of creating more, to replace them and having another probable rebellion in His Heaven; God decided to create another place, where the future replacements would prove their faith and loyalty to Him - first; before they could enter. And it would also be a place, where the culmination of sin and the spectacle of pride, could be revealed without polluting and defiling God’s Heaven with it. The beginning of that plan started at Genesis 1: 1. And so His decision was: that in this World, that He would use procreation as the way to generate beings; instead of just creating them all at one time, as apparently He did in His Heaven. A positive aspect of utilizing procreation is that you have babies and children, puppies and kittens! But then, when this process has completed itself…
Now back to where we left off... the sons of God also could not be “fallen angels”, because “fallen angels” are what is termed: devils, demons, evil spirits, etc. Some may be what others have incorrectly depicted as aliens from outer space. And again, the pre-Adamic men hypothesis is heresy brought over from pagan/occult doctrines. There are also many who teach that the sons of God are not the angels that fell with Lucifer. But that after that rebellious mutiny in Heaven was over, they claim that these are other angels from God’s Heaven, whom they term as 'Watchers' who were appointed by God, to keep an eye on things here on the Earth. Then, upon watching these earthly women, they decided that they just had to abandon Heaven to cohabit with them, by taking them as wives.
What this verse is actually pointing out is this: the angels who fell with their leader Lucifer, "left" or made their decision to leave, when they chose to rebel against their Creator. When you choose to break the rules: you choose to suffer consequences. See our article: "The WHY of Salvation and the Eternal Significance of Mankind". Think again, why would these 'Watchers' choose to cohabit with women on this Earth knowing that they would loose Heaven and that the "Lake of Fire" would now await them for it?! At any rate, what these people who wrench this verse completely out of its moorings are intending to do, is to plant in the minds of humanity that the affairs on this earth, are actually preferable to the Wonders of God’s Eternal Heaven. These are the exact same people who defiantly state that angels are not sexless, but that they are males. As Jesus stated to the Pharisee’s of his day, He will state directly to these teachers, "Ye do err not knowing the scriptures”. Wolves such as: Peter Ruckman, E.W. Bullinger, George Pember, G.H. Lang, Bob Jones (all of them), C. I. Scofield, Finis Jennings Dake, etc, etc. Now that we have conclusively proven, that angels of any and every type cannot be the "sons of God", let us go back again to the Book of Genesis...
"There were giants in those days; and also after that" – this implies that some giants made it through The Flood of Noah. This we have examples of, for we find giants through the Bible right up to the time of King David, which we will get to. But first, whatever happened to these original giants? The obvious answer is that they died in The Flood, at least those who were still alive at that time. Others would have died because access to the Tree of Life had been 'cut-off ' shall we say (Genesis 3: 22-24). But that does not answer the question of: How there were giants after The Flood? Another clue could be: We know from our study, that the sons of God in Genesis could conceivably disappear, re-appear and fly. But if you think about it, most likely only the pure sons of God would be able to do that. Those who were the off-spring of the co-habitation of the race of the sons/daughters of God with the fallen race of man, being bi-racial, most probably could not disappear nor fly, due to genetic corruption. However, it would not make sense that any of the sons of God could have escaped, because God had clearly stated that everything that had breath would die. The only exceptions would be whatsoever made it into The Ark. And that would be our proverbial 'crack of the door': I advance the suggestion that one of the three wives of Noah’s sons, had the gene, which could produce a considerably larger than average person. I know of families who have a gene that produces an anomaly every other generation, or every fourth, or without pattern, etc. Though we do not have recorded, the deaths of these sons of God specifically, we can follow the demise of the giants that were born following, The Flood. Let us check them out after The Flood of Noah. We pick it up after the Exodus of the Hebrews out of the land of Egypt, and after the crossing of the Red Sea...
This is after the 12-men were sent to spy out the Promised Land. So moving on in time, we find that there are various groups of giants of different names…
Now we will see God in the process of destroying more of them…
In a large part of Canaan (known currently as the Golan Heights), there is only one Giant left in that area...
Leaving the days of Moses, let us move on to the days of Joshua and to another area where there were giants dwelling...
At this point in time we see the giants are nearly eliminated. But there are still a few, and a couple or so are in Gath – now just who is it that we know of in Gath? This will take us all the way to David, before he was made king...
We all know the rest of this story. But many may not know about a battle later on with the Philistines, several years after David was crowned King of Israel…
This same account is also set forth at II Samuel 21: 15-22, but with more detail. Now that the giants are destroyed from off the face of the Earth – look at the very next verse:
This is the very first direct mention of Satan, the very first time this name is used. I am curious as to whether at some point Satan had a plan to control these giants, then, when he had gotten a large enough population, whether he planned to overrun the world with them? Now having completed this study, you may still be saying to yourself – this is difficult to believe. I agree this is probably the 1st time that you have heard this explication. But if you go over this study prayerfully, this explication you have just read through has more Scripture and logic by far, than all other interpretations or speculations combined! It does not violate any Scripture as all the others that I have read or heard do, and you do not have to bend, twist or contort any word or verse, in or out of context. No embellishments, just straight forward Scripture. Let us now look at 2 - verses in the Book of Job…
This mention of “the sons of God” in these two verses of the Book of Job, are the only references that I have not been able to give an explanation for, with certainty. |
